SIT means Special Investigation Team. It is an investigative agency mandated to investigate specific cases.

"The Special Investigation Teams or SIT are special teams consisting of police officers and Indian law enforcement, comprised of people who are specially trained to investigate grave criminal cases.

The SIT was established in response to the realization that the existing agencies aren't capable of conducting an adequate investigation into the situation.
